Due to the introduction of the HSE approved 6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course, Prime First Aid has extended this by a further hour to make it suitable for those looking after children. The training incorporates all the elements required for the EFAW course and adds situations more relevant to children.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Teachers and all support staff at schools.
Any organisation or group providing activities where children are involved.
7 contact teaching hours over one day, or the course can be split over a longer period to suit your requirements. (e.g. 9:00am to 5:00pm over one day, 1:00pm to 4:45pm on two separate days, or 3:00pm to 5:30pm on three separate days. Example times include refreshment breaks)

NUMBER OF CANDIDATES
The maximum recommended number of candidates per course is 12. If you require more than 12 candidates trained at the same time, please contact us to discuss how this can be achieved.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES
The role of the Emergency First Aider at Work including:
- Use of first aid equipment, incident recording, hygiene and prevention of cross infection.
- Managing emergencies
- Managing an unconscious Casualty and seizures
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults and children
- Managing choking
- Control of bleeding
- Wound management
- Treating shock
- Anaphylactic reactions
- Head Injuries
- Managing minor injuries: (cuts, grazes, bruises, eye Injuries, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
- Medical conditions specific to the needs of pupils/children
Each candidate receives a 6 hr FAIB approved Emergency First Aid at Work
certificate and a 7hr Emergency First aid for Schools/children’s activities certificate. An A4 certificate is provided for display. Candidates will also receive a first aid book written specifically for the course.
Staff working with EYFS children should undertake the 12 hour Paediatric First aid training.
